As we age, skin loses its elasticity and muscle tone decreases. When it comes to our faces, our eyes may show the passage of time with increasingly droopy eyelids—called ptosis. Droopy eyelids can develop when the muscle that lifts the eyelid (called the levator muscle) stretches and weakens over time. The weaker the levator muscle, the harder it is to keep the eyes fully open. Age is not the only culprit with ptosis. Medical conditions such as an eye injury or nerve damage can leave the upper eyelid sagging lower than normal. Blepharoplasty The term “blepharoplasty" includes a collection of surgical techniques that aims to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids. Historically, blepharoplasty was a reductive procedure in which skin and/or fat was removed in order to reduce upper or lower eyelid wrinkles, skin redundancy, and fat bulges. Present trends follow a tissue-preserving philosophy that may include orbital and sub-orbicularis fat repositioning and fat transfer techniques to restore apparent volume loss associated with facial aging. Postoperative care
Complications The postoperative complications are very rare (ecchymosis, moderate pain, temporary swelling of eyelids) and depend on the correct establishing of the surgery technique, respecting of the post-operative indication.
The first signs of aging are often wrinkles around your eyes, forehead, cheeks, and lips. Wrinkles are a normal feature of the human face. But many people feel wrinkles make them look tired or older. To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, some people choose to have injections (shots) of botulinum toxin. The injections relax certain muscles in the face, and certain wrinkles become less noticeable for a period of time. Eyelid filler injection to add volume around the eyes The main indication for eyelid filler injection is for cosmetic reasons to add volume around the eyes, although it is also used for functional reasons (such as mechanically altering the eyelid to help close the eye better). Eyelid filler is injected in hollow under eyes (tear trough area) to improve or eliminate dark circle, tired appearance. it can also be injected into hollow upper eyelid/brow area. The hollowness around the eyes can be inherited but it is almost always worsened by continued fat loss around the eyes/face that occurs in the aging process. Adding volume in these hollow areas around the eyes (and face) can help create more youthful, rested appearance with natural results.
